EL Amp II+ can be built with Single-Ended RCA jacks (default), or with Balanced TRS Jacks.

RCA Jacks are the most common type of connection for desktop audio. If you are unsure, we recommend choosing the default. Gain is optimized for pairing with 2VRMS sources, such as the JDS Labs EL DAC II+.


Balanced TRS Jacks allow you to connect to any audio interface, DAC, or other source with Balanced TRS or XLR outputs. Gain is optimized for pairing with 4VRMS sources, such as the JDS Labs EL DAC II+ w/Balanced Output.

Standard Power: 1.3W per channel of clean power. This is more than you will need to drive the vast majority of headphones on the market, including dynamic sets by Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, and Focal, as well as most planars from Audeze, HiFiMan, ZMF, etc.

Boosted Power: Your amplifier will be assembled with quad output buffers. Output power is boosted to over 2.3W per channel @ 32 ohms, satisfying even the most demanding sets at extreme volumes.

Preamp Outputs

EL Amp II+ provides preamp RCA outputs, so that you can control volume of your powered speakers.

Output Selection

The Mode button allows you to toggle between headphones and powered speakers. No need to disconnect cables!

Plentiful Power

With +/-15VDC rails and continuous clean power, EL Amp II+ drives all headphones on the market to extraordinary levels, from balanced armatures to planar magnetics. Think you need even more? Choose Boosted Power!

Dual Gain

Low gain of 1.0x is well suited to driving efficient IEMs, while High gain easily powers demanding full size sets.

Single-Ended or Balanced Input

We built EL Amp II+ around a rugged 6.35mm headphone output jack, actively discouraging pentaconn connectors. As for inputs, choose the default RCA jacks for use with most DACs, or select Balanced TRS jacks for pairing with audio interfaces and balanced DACs.

Relay Muting

Designed for desktop listening, EL Amp II+'s full relay muting eliminates pops and thumps during startup through both its headphone and preamp outputs.
